WAX USE TIPS

Start with a Clean Base
    • If your board has old, dirty wax—scrape it off first
    • Use a wax comb or scraper
    • For best results, lightly wipe down the board afterward
Clean base = better grip and longer-lasting wax

Apply a Base Coat (if needed)
    • Use a base coat wax (harder wax)
    • Apply in small circles or a crosshatch pattern
    • Focus on building little bumps (this is what gives traction)
Don’t rush this—your base layer is everything

Use the Right Wax for Water Temp
Match your wax to conditions:
    • Cold water softer wax
    • Warm water harder wax
    • Tropical very firm wax
Using the wrong wax = slippery sessions

Apply the Top Coat Properly
    • Rub your wax in tight circles
    • Don’t press too hard—let bumps build gradually
    • Cover:
        Where your front foot lands
        Where your back foot pushes

Keep It Out of the Heat
    • Don’t leave your board in the sun or hot car
    • Wax can melt and flatten (loses grip)
If it melts, a quick re-texture with a wax comb helps

Maintain Your Wax
    • Use a wax comb before sessions to rough it up
    • Add a light fresh layer regularly
    • Don’t overdo it—too much wax = chunky and slippery

Rewax When Needed
Signs it’s time:
    • Wax looks smooth/flat
    • Dirt buildup
    • You’re slipping more than usual
